Attic Insulation
Attic spray foam insulation seals the leaks that push heat out of the top of a house and keeps upstairs rooms comfortable all year.
View Attic InsulationMost spray foam insulation in Woodstock costs between about $3 and $7 per square foot for homes, and between about $2 and $6 per square foot for commercial and farm buildings. The price depends on the foam type, the thickness and how easy the area is to reach. Every job gets a written estimate after a free visit, which you can book on our contact page.
Closed-cell spray foam is dense and rigid. It gives about R-6 to R-7 per inch, blocks moisture and acts as a vapour barrier at about two inches thick. Open-cell spray foam is soft and lighter. It gives about R-3.5 to R-3.8 per inch, costs less, and is often used for sound control inside a home. Our wall insulation page explains where each one fits.
Most home jobs are sprayed in one day. A rim joist or garage can take a few hours, while a whole new home or a large barn can take several days. The estimate tells you how long your job will take.
Most spray foam products ask for at least 24 hours before people return to the sprayed area, with the space ventilated during that time. We confirm the exact re-entry time for the product we are using in your estimate.
Closed-cell spray foam at about two inches thick acts as the vapour barrier, so a separate plastic sheet is usually not needed. Open-cell spray foam lets vapour pass through, so it may need a separate vapour retarder depending on where it is used. We follow the Ontario Building Code for each location.
In most cases the old insulation should come out first. Spray foam needs to bond to the wood or concrete behind it to seal the air leaks. Old fibreglass or cellulose left in place blocks that bond. This comes up most often in attic insulation upgrades.
Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program has offered rebates for attic, exterior wall and basement wall insulation, and it is scheduled to run until November 30, 2026. The program requires an energy assessment before and after the work, so the first assessment must be booked before any insulation is installed. Attic, wall and basement work can all qualify.
